Tiling system support from the experts
Recognised for its Georgian and Victorian architecture, visitors to Royal Tunbridge Wells, or Tunbridge Wells as it is more commonly known, saw the centre undertake a huge renovation project from Autumn 2019 to its finish in Summer 2020. Many of Schlüter’s flagship products were used to help update this popular space which required hard-wearing tile protection products due to the high-traffic area involved.
Schlüter-DILEX movement joint profiles (290 lengths to be precise) were installed around the shopping centre to protect the tile edges and relieve stresses. The stainless-steel finishing profile Schlüter-SCHIENE was used between the shop units and shopping centre walkways to offer hard-wearing protection. This was also the case for Schlüter-RENO-RAMP which was needed for a stepless transition between floor coverings of different heights, a common requirement in shopping centres such as this one. Schlüter-DITRA 25 uncoupling membrane was also used extensively within the renovation project.
As it was a refurbishment project, there were some tricky transitions throughout, but Schlüter’s products made this task much easier and aided in the success of the finished shopping centre. Not only were the tiles protected against heavy footfall, the profiles also provided a sleek finish to keep Royal Victoria Shopping Centre looking great for years to come.
